Connect with the vital energy of the tiger, the energetics of metal and the western direction. According to Master Wu, Tiger is the weaver of the universe. By learning the 24 movements of LaoHu Gong, we connect to the 24 energies that weave earth and sky together over the solar year.

Aligning with the White Tiger of the West, we enter the Void beyond the setting sun.

LaoHu Gong translates loosely to Old Chinese Tiger Qigong. “Lao” translates to old, “great wisdom” and shamanic. This form comes from a lineage whose roots are found in Chinese shamanism. The oracle bones from which the Chinese character for “Lao” is derived shows a sage holding a staff of wisdom. “Lao” is in the title given to the most famous Daoist sage, LaoZi, author of the Dao De Jing. This implicit association between age and great wisdom shows the reverence shown to elders and ancient knowledge in the traditional Daoism.

I studied under my master, Zhongxian Wu for four years before he shared this form. It’s effects were instant and it is the form of his that has had the most lasting impact on my life.

I was granted his blessing and permission to teach it to others after it had become a daily practice and lifelong ritual.

I summon the power and strength of the Tiger to protect me, to guide me, to bring longevity and healing to my clients and loved ones.

I am not a shaman.

This form will not make you one, either.

The practice of Qigong is one of cultivating the vital energy of the universe (qi), seasoned practitioners will then learn to circulate and eventually project that qi. This takes years of dedicated, regular practice.

This form is especially recommended for empaths, healers, those with compromised immunity, shaky boundaries, or those who wish to enter the Void where spirit of The Tiger and the Queen Mother resides. In this form we learn the power of the Metal element and the Western direction.

In this class we will move alongside the words and teachings of Master Wu with a copy of his book given to each student. Class will be combined practice and discussion. Bring a notebook!

This form will take us through the circulation of qi through 24 energetic stages over the course of the year, known as the 24 Jia Ji. As with all systems of Chinese energetics, these energies are mirrored in the traditional acupuncture meridians and follow the storyline of the tiger emerging from the Void in spring and returning in winter.

Some Qigong experience is recommended for this form though not required.

This is a powerful practice, and the teachings of Master Wu are deep and resonant reminders of a shared well of ancient wisdom.

If you have questions about whether or not this form is right for you, don’t hesitate to reach out and ask!

Each student will receive a copy with registration.
